THIS WEEK’S NEW HOME VIDEO RELEASES

In this week's new home video releases on 05/09/2011 at 8:00 am

Blue Valentine (Anchor Bay/Weinstein)

Anyone who’s had a long-term relationship fall apart around them will find something painfully real and beautiful about this love story starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, both at their very best. As Dean and Cindy scramble to save what little is left of their marriage, their history plays out – in random bursts of time – in front of us. Early happiness and shared interests give way to fights and general disconnection. It’s tough to watch at times: some scenes play as overly dramatic, some are heartbreakingly true. The uncut and uncensored Blu-ray includes deleted scenes and more nudity.

Cougars, Inc. (Lionsgate)

Lame straight-to-home-video comedy about a troublemaking (but entrepreneurial!) kid who pays his high-school tuition by setting up an escort service trading in older foxy women. If that isn’t painful enough, Denise Richards is in it. Wait, there’s more. Jim Belushi also stars.

I Saw the Devil (Magnolia)

At nearly two and a half hours, this South Korean movie about a dude tracking down the serial killer who murdered his fiancée takes time building dread. But the payoff is way more cathartic (and bloodier) than you can imagine. Bonus points for psychological undertones.

Webster: The Complete Second Season (Shout! Factory)

Hard to believe this sitcom lasted six seasons in the mid-’80s. The again it took Charlie Sheen’s breakdown to finally bring down Two and a Half Men. The star of these 26 episodes is tiny Emmanuel Lewis — sassy, cute, and way annoying.
