Inception (Warner)

The year’s best movie looks absolutely amazing on Blu-ray. And now you can pick away at it, rewinding, pausing, and poring over the film’s many puzzling details. The extras (about the production, concepts, and various altered states) dive deeper into Christopher Nolan’s marvelous dream world, but none will blow you away quite like the film. Leonardo DiCaprio and his team of extractors burrow their way – level by level – into people’s dreams until it all becomes a twisty, turbulent ride that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. There isn’t a more thoughtful, complex, and exciting movie released in 2010. Yes, it holds up. And yes, it’s a total mindfuck.

Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist, and Rebel (Phase 4)

Hefner is indeed an activist and rebel … who also happens to like hot, naked girls around him all the time. This documentary looks at his life (with help from stars) and all the crap he had to put up with over the years because of his little magazine.

Restrepo (Virgil)

One of the year’s best documentaries is a tragic, brutal look at the war from the vantage point of troops deployed in one of the most dangerous spots in Afghanistan. The launching point is a dead soldier, but there’s plenty of life in these heartbreaking tales of friendship and courage.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Summit)

The third movie about unbelievably hot and brooding teen vampires isn’t the best (the first one is) or the worst (that honor goes to New Moon). In fact, it falls right in the middle of Blahville. So do the deleted scenes and the six-part making-of documentary.
