TOP PICK – VIDEO GAME

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

(Activision)

The series’ best outing in years (for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii) comes back hard, with more than 90 tracks for you to fake-shred on. There’s some Alice Cooper (“No More Mr. Guy”), Def Leppard (“Pour Some Sugar on Me”), and Neil Young (“Rockin’ in the Free World”). Best of all, there’s Rush’s “2112” in its entirety, which we’ve been practicing for 30 years.

DVD

Apocalypse Now

(Lionsgate)

One of the best movies ever made finally comes to Blu-ray. The three-disc “Full Disclosure” edition includes both cuts of the film (the original 1979 version and the extended Apocalypse Now Redux from 2001), plus interviews, lost scenes, and loads of insider info. It also includes Hearts of Darkness, the 1991 documentary about the brutal shoot. The horror!

CD

Duran Duran: Notorious (Limited Special Edition), Big Thing (Limited Special Edition)

(Capitol/EMI)

Duran Duran had been stripped to a trio by the time these mid-’80s albums came out, but their sound got bigger, thanks in part to producer Nile Rodgers (who worked on Notorious). The three-disc sets include single mixes, outtakes, remixes, and live DVDs. They’re definitely a product of their time (dig those club mixes!) – almost as much as the members’ ginormous hair.

DVD

The Essential Bugs Bunny Collection

(Warner)

This two-disc set gathers 20 vintage cartoons, most of them classics. Bugs’ first appearance is here; so are timeless pairings with Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, and Marvin the Martian. There’s also some rare TV-only appearances and newer shorts. Best: The second disc includes a handful of Bugs Bunny toons not found on any other DVD. That’s great news for fans, doc.

TV

SpongeBob SquarePants: Mystery With a Twistery

(Nickelodeon)

This half-hour special starring our favorite yellow and porous sea critter once again centers on Plankton’s never-ending quest for the secret formula to Krabby Patties. SpongeBob goes on a cross-country train trip with Patrick to recover the missing recipe but spends more time stumbling onto other crimes and unwittingly solving them. It premieres at 8 p.m. Thursday.
