TOBY KEITH

Bullets in the Gun

(Show Dog-Universal)

There are no surprises on Toby Keith’s albums. It’s been that way for a decade now. You know you’ll get a few rowdy good-ol’-boy tunes, a couple ballads, that one offensive track, and maybe a cover song if you pick up the deluxe edition. And that’s exactly what you’ll find on Bullets in the Gun. Keith’s 14th album is no more or no less than the one he released last year or the year before that. He gets all badass in the title tune, shows off some hillbilly pride in “Trailer Hood,” opens his heart in “In a Couple of Days,” and throws out a back-road joke in “Get Out of My Car” that would get him slapped with a date-rape conviction in most states. You were expecting something else?
